This policy explains the cookies and similar technologies used on discobeverage.com. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information generally.
1. What cookies and similar technologies are
A cookie is a small text file a website stores on your device so it can recognize your browser later. We also use:
- Local storage: a browser store that holds small values, like your age confirmation, without sending them to a server on every request.
- Pixels (web beacons): tiny transparent images or snippets that record that a page or email was opened.
- Software development kits (SDKs): code supplied by a partner, typically for analytics or advertising measurement.
First-party technologies are set by us. Third-party ones are set by another company whose code runs on our pages. Session cookies disappear when you close the browser; persistent ones last for a set period or until deleted.
2. Why we use them
- To make the Site work, above all, to remember that you confirmed your age so we do not block you on every page.
- To keep it secure and to spot abuse.
- To understand which pages and markets people care about, so we can improve.
- Where you consent, to measure advertising and show relevant ads to adults of legal drinking age.
3. The categories we use
Strictly necessary, always active
The Site cannot function properly without these, so they do not require consent.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
db_age_ok | First-party local storage | Records that you confirmed legal drinking age, so the age gate is not shown again | 30 days |
| Platform session & security cookies | First-party | Load balancing, session integrity, bot and abuse protection, form anti-spam | Session to 12 months |
| Consent record | First-party | Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask repeatedly | Up to 12 months |
Performance & analytics, optional
| Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Site platform analytics | Aggregated page views, traffic sources, device types, time on page | Up to 24 months |
Advertising and targeting: optional
We do not currently set any advertising or targeting cookies. If that changes we will list each one here, and ask for your consent before it is set.
Keep this table accurate. Whenever a tag, pixel or app is added to or removed from the site, update the row here the same day.
4. A note on the age-gate entry
Our age gate writes a single value, db_age_ok, to your browser’s local
storage. It holds only an expiry timestamp, not your date of birth, not your name
and no identifier. It never leaves your device except as part of normal page operation,
and it is not used for advertising.
Clearing site data for discobeverage.com removes it, and you will be asked to confirm your age again. This is a strictly necessary technology: alcohol advertising rules require us to age-gate the Site, and without it we would have to block every page view.
5. Third parties that may set technologies
Some third-party content, such as embedded video or social posts, may set its own cookies when it loads. We do not control those, and the provider’s own policy applies. Where consent is required we do not load such content until you allow it.
6. Managing your choices
- Use Your Privacy Choices to change cookie categories or opt out of sale and sharing.
- Where a consent banner appears, use its preferences link at any time to revisit your choices.
- Use your browser controls below to block or delete cookies entirely.
Blocking strictly necessary technologies will break the Site, most visibly, you will see the age gate on every single page.
7. Browser controls
Industry opt-out tools for interest-based advertising:
These tools are themselves cookie-based, so clearing cookies may clear your opt-out.
8. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. If your browser or extension sends GPC, we treat it as a valid opt-out of sale and of sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising for that browser.
There is no agreed industry standard for browser Do Not Track headers, so we do not respond to them.
9. Updates
We update this policy when we add or remove technologies, or when the law changes. The date at the top reflects the current version.
